I have created several simple module templates in DXL. They are small things like:
Template bt = template (NLS_("Feature Requirements")) <<
(NLS_("Description")) <>
(NLS_("State-Machine Model of Feature")) <>
(NLS_("Inactive Requirements")) <>
(NLS_("Active Requirements")) <>
(NLS_("Failed Requirements"))
What is the best way to add some object text to the headings (or as an entry right immediately below the heading)? I want to insert a couple of sentences that explain what should be placed in each section. Looking in the DXL reference manual it seems like I should be programmatically selecting the heading object after I have created the template, then editing its Object Text attribute. But I'm very new to DXL and DOORS so I'm really not sure how to proceed from here, or if there is an easier way. gozer_destructor - Wed May 01 11:19:30 EDT 2013 |
Re: Adding text entries in template I would suggest creating a template module and entering your headings and text there. When you want to use the template simply drag and drop to copy the object hierarchy to the module you are working in. No DXL required. A common approach for template modules is to have a "Guidance Notes" attribute (call it what you wish) which is populated for each heading object with instructions for what should appear in that section. |

I figured that I may end up needing to do something like that. Thank you for the advice, I'll probably just do it your way for now. I primarily wanted to use a template because it seems much more elegant than copy and pasting. DXL seems powerful enough to do what I want to, but it's just going to require me finding some time to learn it. If I come up with a nice way to do what I want to I will post my solution as a response to this thread. |

I want to do the same thing as you mentioned in the original post. If you've got some ideas please let me know, thanks a lot. |
Re: Adding text entries in template Try this:
Template s = template (NLS_("(Heading)"))
Template s2 = template (NLS_("(Heading2)")) |
